Ubuntu means together - except if you're using an ATI card

So, with lots of fanfare and public praise, Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty has seen the light of day. Encouraged by reports of the new, userfriendly linux, your ORP attempted an install. After many hours of downloading the default installer CD and finding a burnable disk... I run straight into a screen full of garbled text with a cryptic error message.

Some research on our friendly neighborhood tube network resulted in a bug that was reported and analysed before Ubuntu 7.04 shipped that prevents installation on any ATI card. Ouch. Not only was the error not fixed, the only workaround is to download a different install CD. There is no message alerting potential users to that condition on the website.

So much for user-friendliness. I'll wait until version 8.2.
